How to Get Started in Don’t Starve Together pt 2 : Beginner Game tips! | DST tutorial guide

Hello Everyone and Welcome to part two to
this beginners guide. It’s only been roughly seven months. (haha) I’d would say most of you
probably know by now. That’s how i roll! Hope everyone has been good. This guide
will cover days 8 to 16. So if you haven’t watched the first part i will have a little pop up
or something? You can go watch that. Okay so in the first 8 days video, Some people mentioned
it took them longer sometimes to explore the whole outline of the map, but even if you
haven’t finished exploring the whole outline of the map by now you should pretty much have found a good enough spot to setup your base! But like i said in the last video. I would typically make it central or close to unmovable resources or even like some people commented, They like to put there’s near a good wormhole. Which is definitely good. So i recommend that! So it’s day 8… Use this time to set up your base or work on your base a bit more. Usually early game i kinda do that a bit, I’m not really a master builder or nothing! And i wouldn’t go to crazy with your base right now, Your surviving right now. You don’t have to worry too much about what your base looks like you can always change things around later once your established. And far as berry bushes go, You don’t have to worry too much … of like what pattern you need to put them in! As long as you left enough room in the middle of your berry bushes to put a berry there your good. I’ve seen people do tons of patterns. I’m just doing it in a basic square far as i know. I might add some like roads in between at a later time, But for now i’m just keeping it basic. It you haven’t yet, I think that’s one thing i didn’t do last time. That i did this time is? I’d recommend making a spear and some wood armor or if you have the pig skin you could make a football helmet. Because if hounds haven’t attacked yet. You are definitely due! I find they normally attack from days 1 to 9 but This run they came at day 14, So it can definitely random. But the first wave or even many waves, There’s many ways you can deal with them! You don’t typically have to fight them! You could always use Beefalo and other methods…. Swamp But just be ready for that and to deal with it. So right now, Things i would be making is a Birdcage. You will definitely need a Bird trap! You could put a seed on the trap…. If your in a hurry but you really don’t need one! You normally can just catch a bird, Without one. You know birds they’re pretty…. They’re pretty dupid! Most of the time if the traps around your area or in your screen, You will notice a bird will just land on it after awhile. They not as smart as the Raven!!! But once your done with the trap, You can just leave it on the ground. Your definitely…. catch random birds like that. Every once in awhile! But also on a side not! Once you catch the extra birds With your trap, That’s just laying there! Because it’s gonna happen You could either choose to get a morsel 100% of the time, By holding the bird over the fire and cooking it ALIVE!!!! Totally not animal cruelty!!! or if you want the feather, You can just murder the bird for the 50% meat or feather. Definitely get an ice box. Soi always see people saying, They can’t find gears for the ice box. Which could be if you didn’t do a ruins rush but you could normally find Clockwork Knights, Bishops and Rooks on the surface. It’s only a 1% drop but just remember, You get 3 items out of each tumbleweed. So you do the math! You could make chest but you really don’t need them right now But it don’t hurt Most stuff you could just leave on the ground. Except items that can be eaten or stolen! You know gold, rocks and pig skin….. I’m sure you get the idea! It really depends on where you setup.Once you make your first crock pot from there, I’d get started on making some meatballs. Which is one of the easiest recipes, You can make! Which you see here i use 3 berries and 1 meat. You could even use 3 ice and 1 meat and you still get meatballs………. SCIENCE!!! And don’t forget a lighting rod!! But, With this stuff you can work on until it gets close to the full moon. This guide is for Dst so on day 11 but if your playing Ds, There moon cycle is between 9 and 10 i believe So depending on how far the Glommer statue is, Just make sure you give yourself enough time to get there or if you haven’t found him yet. Definitely get on that!!!! That should be a priority. And if you seem to be having a problem finding Glommer. Just look on your map and see where the birchnut forest is. Or maybe you even seen the Pig king Because Glommer is always close by to the Pig King and in the birchnut forest! But on the full moon just be careful. Any pigmen nearby will be turned into Werepigs once the full moon is happening. You could kill the pigs beforehand, So they are not a problem. You could do it either or if they are close by! I like to do it sometimes if i really want a lot of pig skin and meat. You could kill them normally or use monster meat if you were able to get a bunch of it. It isn’t that hard to get, Just turn them into Werepigs. That way you get most out of them. Meaning… meat and pig skin So the last pig you could get some manure with by just dropping Ferns, Light Bulbs, Seeds and even berries. You get the point! On the ground and the Werepig will just go straight for that over attacking you, So you could just let him eat them all up and then take him out after that! Like you normally would. and there you go. You got manure and you didn’t have to wait because…. YOU COULD NEVER HAVE TO MUCH SHIT!!!!! So once you got Glommer out of the way, You could just leave him at base for when you might need some sanity. You also will find Glommer goop every few days, Where you left him. His goop is good for fuel for fires or providing 40 hp when you eat it. But at the cost of 50 sanity. Which could be good if you want to farm some Nightmare fuel. Don’t be afraid to go insane once in awhile. I wouldn’t recommend it when your trying to focus on setting up your base though, Cause that can get annoying REAL quick!!! But farming up Nightmare fuel anytime is really good. You could never have to much! So now with a lot of your base building done, You can use some of this time to do more map exploring (Key things) To do well exploring are following roads. When you come across them Chester is normally around the Cobble roads, Keep an eye out for more Walrus camps. Hopefully your world has more then one. Destroy any tier 3 spider dens you find. This way you can place them closer to your base. Make sure you aggro the normal three, Wait to attack them until you and the spiders are off the web. So no more get aggroed, You can also place some spider dens around the Walrus camp. And i said this tip before in another one of my videos, Spider den + Birdcage=OP Also another side note is, Eggs are even renewable. Let’s just pretend these eggs are going bad! When they are about to spoil, You could cook them which extends the shelf time. But once you cook the eggs you could just give them to the bird and then guess what you get a brand new egg!!! science!! Make sure to craft a razor or just kill a bunch of Beefalo and head to the Savanna, and look for Beefalo Try and find one alone or somewhat further from the pack! You could even feed one grass to get it to follow you for a few… Once your alone in a dark alley some place ……KILL IT!! And just repeat until you get a Beefalo Hat, Which will keep you warm in the winter. Until you get a Tamo. But once you have the horn, You could just gather nearby grass until nighttime, Just go around with your razor and shave the Beefalo for their wool. Which is needed for the Beefalo hat. Any extra wool, You could even use for fuel. And that’s pretty much a wrap everyone!! Quick thing i want to mention is…..With these guides you don’t have to follow them down to the exact science! I got some comments on my other one about that (Video) Where people were trying to mimic them exactly. and these are just for like examples… like i don’t always play to this tee you know? It’s ah….. You just kinda go with the flow. This is just kinda an example of how i… How i put this together, To try and be efficient! It doesn’t always go as plan. I’m going to upload my longer version. Just like before. You could see i’ve done things a little bit different. Yeah, I just hope this helps some people out who are newer at the game or even maybe some advanced people learned a tip or two. But i hope you guys enjoyed this video, I’ll try and have the next 8 days out a lot sooner this time. and in that video. We will kill the Dragonfly!! YEAH!!

  1. This guide is only useful in DST NOT in DS, RoG or SW cause those are very different & some people might get confused, RoG is slightly similar but different cause of full moon's & u have the old bell etc.

  2. "Don't be afraid to go insane every once in a while." This guide is fantastic, I can't believe it was uploaded just a few days before I decided to get back into this game.

  3. I found a really good base spot, it had the desert, birch forest, rock, and normal forest biom. Only downside was no pig king and no walrus camp.

  4. Yea nice vid. I think u missed a few things in d first vid. I would suggest collecting at least 20 grass/twigs days 1-2, plus at least 2 flint, preferably 6 flint. I like to make a backpack ASAP, and also mine any rocks for flint, and rock to make a science machine, pick axe and hammer wen needed . U might not always have enough resources to make an alchemy machine unless u want to slow collect (rocks, gold, logs)- mine/chop, BUT hammering down pig houses is much better/faster. U get 2 of each pig skin, cut stone, and planks = fast resources. Now u can make an alchemy machine fast/easily plus build a pig farm, ham bats, football helmets and build a decent base.
When I build a science machine first I build a backpack, then optimally I prioritize a shovel (graves), spear/log suit (unless wigfred), pre-build an alchemy engine (if possible) and possibly a razor and bug net and if I have a lot of resources i will craft planks and a chest to temporarily store resources. The razor and bug net (catch fire flies) are not very important and more situational but if possible I like to have the prototype.
Also u didn't mention much about where to set up base, although as a noob I guess it's not super important. My favorite location is near bee queen. Originally I would always build near pig king. Pig king is a good noob location bc there is usually plenty of food (berry bushes, mushrooms, catcoons and pig houses) to survive. The DF dessert is another good location. Often the DF dessert and the oasis desert are close or linked. The oasis desert is great to be close to for summer and mega basing. U can tell them apart from the different looking cactus and the mini savanna in the DF desert. Dragonfly desert has round cactus/tumble weed and oasis has tall cactus.
Also tips on basing and bioms from my experience (correct me if I'm wrong). The guaranteed 1 walrus camp is always in the forest bioms with the moon stone structure and vice versa. Hence if u find 1 u find the other. There is usually at least 2 forest bioms and the forest with the mini savanna beefalo biom never has walrus/moon stone. If u find a large savanna biom and no beefalo with a small rock biom, often with tall birds u have almost certainly found the lucky triple walrus camp biom.

  5. Only thing In this guide that you should do (from 1 to 10 days) is to explore the whole map. I think that's a really good idea for mostly everyone. If there is something better to do (if you aren't rushing anything) I would want to know.

  6. I was introducing this game to my brother the other day when he said this game is much like Diablo that you'll need to consider what is in your inventory and how detailed this game was. I realized then that I was hooked up to this game because of the similarity with the Diablo Series, and then I found your channel with your name as a Diablo II referrence (correct me if I'm wrong).

    Awesome Tutorials btw!

  7. butter flies are maybe the best food for beginners. also frogs. Either can make good food that heal when combined with 1 veg ( mushrooms easy to get) and 2 twigs.

  8. I got winter on day 11 of ROG. I made the mistake of attacking a penguin. I had pretty decent health, but it and itโ€™s buddies KO me in a single hit. I was like, wot?

  9. So, while you were sleeping today, I tried out a lot of your tips. Thanks. Did you also die a lot when you first started exploring this game? I feel like a freekin noob. Every time I get a tad Better, but I haven't made it to day 10 yet. (I've only played for two days)

  10. Cool video. I've been playing don't starve for five years and learned something new. Find the difference.๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ

  11. I was hoping this guide would detail how to deal with the hounds – the first wave always kills me ๐Ÿ™

  12. Now that the new lunar island is up i dont think it will be a good idea 2 make a base in the middel
(Correct me if i am wrong)

  13. Pro Glommer tip: Murder him on the first night of summoning and get the items, he will respawn the next night since full moon last two days. Then the next time the moon is about to rise murder him the day before and you can do it twice.

  14. Earned a sub, I like your sense of humor and your guides are really helpful I learned a lot and will play this game a bit not because of it

  15. I did this and got to day 6. Only a couple of steps left and i was finished. Saw a statue that i could mine, i decided to mine it. Then a robot cyclops stood up and lasered me to death 10/10
