  1. There's one more keto video coming after this. To see them all so far, go to https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/keto-diet/ . -NF Team

  2. I attended one of your meetings a number of years ago. I would simply like to take a moment to say, thank you for your contributions to healthy living. This by education and example! Thank you sir!!!

  3. Keto changed my life for the better. That's all I know. I feel awesome, and being hard and "un-fat" finally is a plus as well. I laughed at keto, and hated on it.. until I learned I was never actually in ketosis, and learned how to do it correctly. Once I mastered it, it became AWESOME! No hunger, incredible recovery. Better sleep. No hate, just the way it is.

  4. With all that evidence against meat based keto diets, there might be soon a case to sue those keto charlatans trying to poisoning us.

  5. Maybe just a coincidence, but every person at my gym whom I knew was doing Keto, quit the gym and their workout routines due to injuries.

  6. I caaant waaaiit to seee this seriiies eennnnd. What a pooooor atttemmpt loaded with cherry picked faaaacts. Come on you vegan evangelists go out and get a good slab of fatty meat inside you to give your brains a fighting chance of comprehending this biased BS 😂

  7. Thank you Dr. Gregor for noting the studies Dr. Dean Ornish has done on plant based diets. He doesn't get enough attention from YouTube vegan/plant based channels. Have known his work since the 80's and his excellent UNbiased research via Stanford/UCSF.
And that he is responsible for getting medical insurance companies and Medicare to cover his classes for heart patients, who need to reverse heart disease which is 98% less expensive than major bypass surgery or a heart transplant. His classes are excellent and involve medical check ups and are plant based, and also include simple lifestyle changes.
Now if something could be done about the many 'vegan' YouTube channels that push processed vegan foods that are often high in fat, salt, sugar and ingredients you can't even pronounce.

  8. i see that practically everybody i follow on youtube who practice the keto diet also do intermittent fasting… is it possible/probable that the benefits they get are purely just due to the I.F? I'm studying nutrition throuh the royal society for public health here in the u.k, but i also have 2 sisters who are epileptic, so, i'm a little torn in opinion, until i learn more.

  9. Also known as M1316V or p.Met1316Val, rs1061325 represents a common variant in the clathrin heavy chain like 1 CLTCL1 gene on chromosome 22. The (T) allele is associated with the Met (M) codon, and the (C) with Val (V), as represented on the forward/plus strand. A 2019 publication gathered a fair amount of attention in the popular press by speculating that the V1316 allele has a selective advantage in processing carbohydrate-rich diets (presumably including those with lots of sugar) of farmers compared to the M1316 allele found at somewhat higher frequencies in hunter-gatherers (who theoretically consume fewer carbs). The authors suggest that heterozygotes may have a selective advantage, with M1316 homozygotes presumably most prone to developing insulin resistance on modern diets. While we would not expect the major CLTCL1 polymorphism to directly influence the development of T2D, CHC22 accumulates on the expanded GSC that forms in cases of insulin-resistant T2D (Vassilopoulos et al., 2009), so its variation could potentially exacerbate insulin resistance to different degrees. The genetic diversity that we report here may reflect evolution towards reversing a human tendency to insulin resistance and have relevance to coping with increased carbohydrate in modern diets. ://elifesciences.org/articles/41517

  10. Keto Shmeto… There are so many people who "try" the keto diet for mass-market weight loss and end up quitting for a number of reasons, good reasons. This fad will pass… Maybe to be replaced by the "Fibo" diet… (because there has to be another fad for the diet industry) "Lose all the weight by eating 80% fiber, blah, blah, blah…"

Mother Nature put everything we need on this earth for us to thrive in great health. Plants grow in wild abundance – all colors, so many delicious consistencies… It's really not complicated. But, most people (the confused, unaware & misled masses) think there must be some "secret trick diet", lol…

    Onward we go, folks.

  11. Ok, That's all fine and dandy, Dr. Greger, but what's the evidence to show that a little meat once a week is going to be bad for muscle mass/synthesis. As a plant based athlete, I would like to know how even a little meat disadvantages the body. Thanks.

  12. Best diet is a whole foods plant base diet. Better for us, its moral because eating animals is absolutely wrong, better for the environment.

  13. Bone density by other means. Bone-Up provides StimuCal ossein MicroCrystalline HydroxyApatite (MCHA) (from free-range New Zealand calves), which includes the superior combination of the inorganic calcium lattice of MCHA within an organic protein milieu. StimuCal is rich in native type I collagen—the predominant protein found in bone—and has been clinically demonstrated not to disproportionately spike calcium blood levels as do other forms of calcium, such as the carbonate and citrate salt forms. StimuCal is combined with vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 (as MK-7 [menaquinone-7] from natural fermentation [a more bioavailable form of vitamin K]) to support the proper deposition of calcium into the bones, as well as assist in building up the bone matrix.* Bone Up also supports cardiovascular and arterial health.*

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Post-Op Bone growing fast

Take this stuff. It is a miracle. I had a second neck surgery at 45 C-3 on June 13th. Was a vegan for a long time and former smoker. First fusion from C-4 to C-7 took years to recover then I started taking Bone-up to get ready for top level to be replaced and the doctor said it takes 6-12 months for bone to grow. Went for follow-up today and c-3 already has bone growing. The Stimucell in Bone-Up can not be compared. I was in bed for years. Take a directed. 3 times a day. I took more 2X4, plus extra collagen in coffeeI dont do dairy but I am convinced this product has huge impact on fast recovery.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Option for Calcium & D3 Intake

    January 29, 2018

Size: 90 CAPSULESVine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )Verified Purchase

If you need a supplement for calcium and D3, I would absolutely suggest the Jarrow line of Bone Up products. You will gnat to decide for yourself which variety. This one is "3 a day", others can be taken as 6 a day, and it can be a bit much as these are not small capsules.

The main issue is your body can assimilate only so much calcium at a time, so you have to spread these out. With this variety that comes down to 3 times a day. if you take the others that give you a dose in 6 capsules, you can do 3 and then 3, as opposed to 2/2/2. It really comes down to your schedule, and how you want to consume these.

As far as performance, there is no magic bullet for bone deficiencies, however, I feel this supplement is beneficial, and does;'t have the same risks as many prescription solutions, which only add a build-up onto your bones. That is my personal opinion, no medical background or training, etc.

As far as the product quality, I am a big Jarrow formulas fan, and find their stuff to be very high quality and never with any junk ingredients.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was so bad that even few steps used to hurt

    July 6, 2016

    Size: 90 CAPSULESVerified Purchase

I have been dealing with knee pain over a year. It was so bad that even few steps used to hurt. I bought this item about 6 months ago with another joint supplement and used them together about 2 months. At the same time I started doing HIIT training and still doing them. No more pain.I feel great. I bought 3 more and send it to my mom and dad to help them with their joint pain recently. I hope it works for them too

    Awesome bone renewal

Awesome bone renewal. My 90 year old mom was playing football with her neighbors great grandson for she was not able. My mom fell trying to catch the ball and broke her femur. Within the first week of her taking these supplements she was standing with a walker. Each day she has gotten stronger. I believe it is the Grace of God that let me find this product. I ordered a bottle for myself and after a few days I had 85 percent less pain in my shoulder and complete mobilty. 😁👍

Taking this product has improved my bone density from osteoporosis to osteopenia which is an improvement. I was able to stop taking Fosamax.

  15. oxalate buildup and a sudden reduction in its consumption, can cause
dumping of stores, hence kidney stones. It's not always so simple. POST LINKS TO PAPERS FOR HONEST SCRUTINY.

Lets see Dr. Greger do some heavy exercise & quality reps to put his money where his mouth is, like Dr. Shawn Baker.

  16. Define keto used in these research papers. lean animal protein +
vegetable fat? Vegan keto? Keto carnvore? Were the products containing
organic foods, or were they sprayed GMO's?

  17. This doesn't make sense. Even the idiots that sold high carb low fat diets for athletic performance are now saying there's no difference.

  18. I’ve been doing Keto and carnivore for two years and I have lost a lot of weight and improved my strength and fitness by a huge amount. I am 43 years old and feeling like I’m 25 again, not just physically but mentally and emotionally feeling amazing. The Keto way of living has changed my life.

  19. What about healthy fats like olive oil and avocados? I eat a lot of them – especially olive oil – because of my beloved mediteranean diet. Could be that fat intake from olive oil and avocados bad for me?

  20. The way people smell on keto is just as bad as they smell on diets with high % of artificial sugar.
The former have dog breath, the latter rotten one.

  21. This really should be killing blow to the Keto myth. Unfortunately we also exist in the same universe as anti-vaxxers and flat-earthers.

  22. Can confirm. I tried keto and felt unnaturally fatigued when I tried to lift weights as I've been doing for years.
People online said my body would adjust, and that they don't feel any such thing.

  23. When I went on the Atkins diet years ago I threw up blood and had to go off it. But when I went on Dr Ornish diet after I saw him on Ted talks, I lost 100 pounds, and my doctor said I no longer had a cholesterol or blood sugar problem. SO for me at least, plant based is the way to go. I had gotten off track for a bit and so went vegetarian for 2 months and then vegan for 1 month and my cholesterol went down 79 points. So I know plant based is best for me !

  24. What this tells me is when your in your early 50's going keto might be good, keeps your bodyweight under control however you loose some strength, but who's needs strength in their 50's.

  25. Can I ask an honest question? How does the body burn fat? Is it when there is no more glucose in the blood and liver left to use, forcing the body to burn fat? Is that process called ketosis or is it something else? If it is ketosis, then why is the keto diet bad – is it just because the keto process goes on too long? Am hoping someone with brains can help me, as all these competing diets and theories are so confusing!

  26. Hah! So far from the truth it’s is funny! 😂

I developed osteoporosis and lost all my muscle tone from years of whole food plant based vegan diet.
I am now healing on ketogenic diet. Getting stronger every day. Also my brain performance is so much better now.
Basically I am reclaiming my health that deteriorated from veganism!

  27. Low carb diets are gaining popularity because people feel much better when they aren't bloated, constipated, and suffering from excessive gas all the time. When you ditch the grains, beans, processed foods and calorie dense carbs and eat meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds instead you feel better.

  28. You got to love the truth. Repeated high doses of acid causes inflammation of the kidneys(eventually causing Chronic Kidney Disease). Which lowers kidney function. Which weakens the immune system. Which reduces your ability to fight disease( cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart failure, stroke, etc.).  Eating any animal (beef, chicken, fish) causes large amounts of acid.  Eating plant protein does not.  One in six people have Chronic Kidney Disease.  One in three people over 65 have it.  Most people that have Chronic Kidney Disease don't know they have it. There are no symptoms until kidney failure.  If you have not had a full blood panel done recently, do so.  It also measures the efficiency of your kidney function.

  29. Not here to advocate for any diet, but I see that most of those studies have missed the "Modus Operandi" of Keto diet :

1º – You start gradually. Reducing Carbs and Adapting your body for what's to come (Low-Carb diet)
2º – Once you are getting adapted to low carbs, start eating more fat, but only to "Teach" your body how to keep up with that…also start reducing even more Carbs ( < 20 g / day ).
3º – After 1 or 2 weeks, you intruduce Intermitent Fasting (the twin brother of Keto Diet).
4º – At the same time, start gradually reducing Fat intakes, forcing your body to Burn internal Fat.
5º – Don't stay in Keto for too long ( 1 or 2 months is enough). Return to Low-Carb diet and stay for 1 month, at least, until you can afford another cycle of Keto.

Protein intakes also need to be moderated (25%). Vitamins and Minerals Supplementation is highly advisable.

The first cycle is harder…better keep it short.

To summarize : Low-Carbs for long term (all life)…Keto is better in cycles. Both need adaptation.
    .

  30. I'm a vegan now ,it's been 4 months and never been better ! Don't ever go for keto diet ever but yes that doesn't mean that you should consume high simple carbs, either!

  31. This "doctor" was paid by the pharma thugs and the big companies to continue to lie so they can keep selling their products to make people sick.

  32. I gained 27 pounds in10 week basic training cycle. These weak ass fake study groups need to stop. Only gaining 3pounds in 8 weeks… Come on, this is a garbage study.

  33. I'm eating more vegetables than ever before, but the problem is, it's quite oily. The only option we have around here is white rice. Am I better eating white rice and reducing the oil, or keeping up the greens, fat and keeping it low carb? Currently, I'm losing a lot of weight. Too much, in fact, on what I'd imagine is keto. Not sure if I'm truly in ketosis considering the Chinese love to slip in as much sugar and cornstarch into the food as possible

  34. I don't think people have really given a low fat diet the chance it deserves. I watch the people at the grocery store and fat people eat like fat people. I tell people I eat oatmeal, beans, and rice or noodles almost every day and have lost 40 lbs and they don't think that is possible. I tried a meat diet first and lost 20 lbs. I didn't like it and switched to a whole food, mostly plant based diet and continued to lose the same amount of weight. I pick foods on the glycemic index that are medium or lower and eat 3 meals a day, no snacks. They have it kind of right with the low glycemic index, but they take it too far. Fats are not filling, no more than sugars. They're just empty calories.

  35. Dubious Synopsis. 1. the mentioned CRP rise was negligable 2. The more important Interleukin 6 value was lowered.
Since I train 6 times a week for a Triathlon, I cannot with certainty asure you about muscle gain. Also my Motivation might be higher as usual. I dont eat a lot of animal fat besides fish. In my experience a slightly adjusted Ketogenic diet, with small intakes of carbs during Cardio Sessions has had no adverse effects.

  36. This is yet more evidence that supports not using the ketogenic-type diets, which are primarily used to reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures in children, for those genuinely interested in maximizing their health and functional longevity. My goal is to live long and finish strong, which, based on nearly forty years of personal study, is the whole food plant based herbivorous eating model (long term use of the keto models is untested and unsupported).

  37. All these studies are questionable in pro or anti keto cases. I believe in watching how your own body reacts and responds to diet is way better than dogma. People are obviously chasing the dollar and their egos.

  38. On the 3 study you showed:

Body weight had an statistical significant increase only in the non ketogenic (20/25/55) diet group of ~1kg
Fat mass had an statistically significant decrease only in the ketogenic (20/10/70) diet group of ~1kg
Lean body mass only had an statistically significant increase in the ketogenic diet group of ~1.5 kg

You showed the study title and a few slides and only mentioned the negative results from ketosis not the positives

  39. There are two people I work with that went Keto. They have lost a substantial amount of weight, and good for them for doing so and trying to lose weight. But they look like pale sick zombies. I also did Keto 3 years ago for about 4 months. I was very mathematical about it making sure I did everything correctly and even used a ketone meter. I bought all the best organic grass fed meat you could buy and ate a ton of leafy greens and what little fruit you can on a keto diet. I developed some very serious digestive issues which till this day I couldn't figure out what it was after having some blood work, CT scan, and a colonoscopy done. My only guess is pancreatitis or a severe micro biome imbalance in my intestines. I then went Vegan almost 2 1/2 years ago and everything with my health improved.

  40. Really enjoyed this video as it is super clear how blood glucose is the symptom of diabetes and not the cause! I've been doing my own lit review on keto diets and started sharing my findings. Please take a moment to watch and provide me some feedback! Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKOXgVQymIU

  41. If anyone was wondering yes this is a comedy channel, people on keto are super healthy and well nourished.
But you can't eat McDonalds with extra mayo and call that keto.
You can build muscle just not like if you were consuming unnatural refined sugars which spike your insulin hormone, I mean if you are willing to spike your hormones may as well inject steroids.

  42. How can a keto diet use too much fat we just use 75% fat to enter ketosis after that body use its own fat my belly go in my hormonal facial hair disappear my binge eating hunger go away . What is the other way I am eating a lot of veggies a piece or two of meat just left processed food meat and sugar . What is the alternative which help me lose weight get active to do daily activities and get healthy

  43. I'm waiting for the day Michael reveals himself to be a secret bodybuilder.

One day he'll rip off his suit to reveal an expertly toned body with 18 inch arms and an 8 pack set of abs.

  44. What about Lebron James? He's been on Keto. Surely he's that strong.. Didn't seem to have major injuries and still formidable.

  45. This is definitely confusing I would like to see a debate between dr. Berg and Michael Greger about the ketogenic diet they both argue their points very well but on opposite side of the spectrum. they are definitely contradicting one another medical benefits and or Consequences the ketogenic diet
