Orphaned Baby Elephant Saved From Starvation

Orphaned Baby Elephant Saved From Starvation

COMM: It’s hard to believe that this inquisitive young calf was once so emaciated that she
could barely stand. COMM: Esampu had been separated from her herd and aged just six months depended on milk
to survive. COMM: It’s feared that the Masai practice of elephant spearing could be the reason for
her family’s disappearance. There are over 11,000 wild elephants in Kenya’s Tsavo conservation
area. That’s a third of the country’s entire elephant population. COMM: The David Sheldrick Trust has treated more than 110 elephants speared by humans
over the past three years. COMM: The team worked quickly to rehydrate Esampu before transporting her to an elephant
nursery in Nairobi. COMM: The orphanage is run by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, who have hand raised over
150 infant elephants. COMM: Although Esampu doesn’t need medical treatment, the grief of losing her family
will take time to overcome. COMM: But she is happily settling in with the group of other youngsters and is known
for her playful nature. COMM: Esampu will remain at the orphanage until she turns three when she will graduate
to one of Tsavo’s reintegration areas to begin the next step of her journey.

  3. I am very happy to see the elephants being helped so they can survive what I'm not happy about is they can help the elephants in fact go out of their way to help the elephants but will not lift a finger ed to help the lions .They say we can't interfere.Well, isn't it interfering when you help an elephant too.Why is it o.k. to help animals out of wells and mud,who gets put into a nursery when they get lost or lose their mothers but not for a lion cub.How many times did a lioness go òut hunting for food and never come home .Does anyone ever check her babies to make sure they're ok.I doubt it.Look I'm just saying if you can interfere with 1 type of animal ,you can interfere for all types. We don't get to pick and choose who to save. We're not God!!
