Stamp Out Hunger Food Donation, 2019

– LBCC is home to a very
diverse population of students and unfortunately, there are students who face many challenges. Financial difficulty,
housing and of course, the food and security. The donation will be given to the Student Health Services
Center who distributes the food to our homeless
students and our hungry students who are facing insecurities. – And no student should be too hungry to learn at Long Beach City College. To get an education and I
really want to thank you. Today, we’ve increased it
from 86 boxes last year to 120 boxes so I just wanted
to personally thank you. – You know what, as carpenters
we understand the struggle. The struggle is real and
when we found out last year that one in five students are going hungry or that are having problems with housing, that’s some real stuff. – We are making a difference,
we’ve got Viking Vaults and that’s our food pantry
where we provide our students with nourishment to get
through their busy days. – You know as carpenters,
we build America. That’s what we do. Hey, you’re building the future. So we’re all in part building America. And so I wanna give thanks
and recognition to you also. Thank you, keep building America. (applause)
