The Hunger Games ► Happiness & Motivation

“While you live, the revolution lives.” – Plutarch Heavensbee The Hunger Games is the story of the 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers in place of her younger sister Prim, after she is chosen to compete in 74th Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death. On the surface, it’s an annual fight among the selected group of young citizens. But at better glance, it’s the story of overcoming fears, the desire to succeed, to stay alive, and especially about the struggle of knowing what it’s in your heart. Suzanne Collins created the trilogy and through
its protagonist teaches us that when we stumble upon hard times, you don’t just give up.
The question isn’t ‘why me’. The question is ‘what are you going to do’ and
there is only one answer. You must become the symbol of justice and hope. The Mockingjay. Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. Don’t just wait for the whole thing to
be over, as Greasy Sae says. You’ve got to go through it to get to the end of it. And what if no one’s there to help you? We mustn’t blame others for that which
they cannot control. Remember the real enemy. You have to be bold and you have to learn
that some walks you just have to take alone. At the end you’ll arrive stronger and wiser.
And for that you will also be thankful. You don’t like the way you think? Start
a self-revolution, inside and out. You don’t like the life you have? Change it! Remember,
you have the power in you and while you live, the revolution lives. Katniss wears an outfit in the parade of Panem
that gives the illusion of being on fire giving her the nickname ‘girl on fire’. While beautiful, it also reflects the symbolism of the fire burning within. We all share that same fire, inside. We just have to let it go wild. Don’t forget that trying to improve your
life takes time. Finnick tells us it takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart. Take whatever life throws at you and be strong. Do not fall. Listen to me, you’re stronger than you think you are. You are. You have to show them how good you are. You have to show the world that you are more than just a piece in their games Haymitch sums it up nicely by simply saying stay alive. Become the Mockingjay. And may the odds be ever in your favor.
