Why You Need The Galveston Diet

Why You Need The Galveston Diet

I created The Galveston Diet after my brother passed away. I went through a pretty significant grief process, and through that ended up gaining about 15 pounds. For someone who’s been fairly thin most of her adult life, I was struggling with that. I started doing everything that I was tell taught to tell my patients to do: Exercise more, eat less. Exercise more, eat less. Exercise more, eat less. I did all of tha,t and it wasn’t working. I’d lose a pound or two, but just couldn’t seem to shake the weight and couldn’t get back down to my happy weight or get back down to the rest of the weight. I was so frustrated. I was starting to get obsessed. I was weighing myself every day. I just couldn’t understand! I felt like I was starving! Why wasn’t this wasn’t working? In the back of my mind, I thought of all of the patients that I had taken care of over the years ,when I didn’t have a weight problem, who would sit with me, and in frustration over how they didn’t understand why they were gaining weight. I would just pat them on the hand and say, “Oh just work out more ,and eat less. You don’t understand where all your calories are coming from. Literally, when I was going through it myself, I felt like a hypocrite. I had told those precious women who trusted me that. In the back of my mind, I didn’t believe that they actually were exercising as much as they said they were and and eating as little as they said they were. So born out of that, I decided to hit the books, I said, “Forget this! I’m a scientist. I know that there’s an answer and I am not doing it correctly.” So I hit the books. I started researching scholarly articles medical journals looking at what the latest trends were, and I kept seeing a reoccurrence of certain themes. I kept seeing lots of information, TED Talks, and other incredible things about intermittent fasting, lots of lots of things about ketosis and lots of information about eliminating inflammatory foods. I had heard little snippets here and there (about each component) and actually to lose baby weight had done South Beach and was successful with it. But, I just kind of dismissed it all as fads. I didn’t think that those were long term answers that people could really stick with so I dug down deeper and was fascinated by their research. I was absolutely fascinated by the studies that were going on. And I thought, “You know, maybe there’s something to this. What if I Incorporate all three components and maybe they’ll work synergistically together.” So I developed a program incorporating nutritional ketosis, intermittent fasting, using kind of a 16-8 profile and I’ll get into a much deeper detail of that later and, elimination of common inflammatory foods that are in most of the Western diet today. I tried it out on myself and was shocked by the almost immediate change that I saw not only in my weight, but in how I felt, how I slept, how my energy levels, how much easier it was for me to exercise, how much easier it was for me to run and I Said I’ve got to call some girlfriends! So I called a few girlfriends said do you want to do this with me? And they said absolutely! They jumped in: incredible results. And then I said, “You know, I think I may have something here. Let me share it on Facebook.” So through my friends on Facebook, I started sharing the program, made little private groups for them to oin, and after a year, ended up having a couple of thousand people go through the program and were super super successful with it. So now I’m so excited to take what I know works. I have incredible before-and-after stories. I have testimonials falling out of the sky and take it to you guys through this teachable course and share it with you. I can’t wait for you to get started. What makes this different I think is certainly there are other programs out there and if you find one that works for you, absolutely go. But, what I like to do is educate you. I have a gift, I think, for being able to take kind of complicated medical topics and break it down into something that a normal person who didn’t go to medical school would understand. I believe that knowledge is power and the more you educate yourself the more you understand the science behind it, the less likely you are to reach for that bag of cheetos when the time comes, because you understand WHY you shouldn’t eat that, not just because Dr. Haver told you so, but because you understand the science, and you are making the decision to do the best that is for your body. I can’t wait to get rolling with you guys intermittent fasting is the first thing we’re gonna discuss and I promise you it’s gonna seem that if you haven’t done it, it’s going to seem like the strangest thing you’ve ever done, but I promise you it will be the easiest thing you’ve ever done and probably the easiest thing for you to stick to. All right, guys, let’s get going
